“Miss Independent” is a song by American R&B/pop singer Ne-Yo. The song was produced by Stargate, and samples from the song “Forget About Me” by artist Little Bit.

The song was released as the second single from his upcoming album Year of the Gentleman. It was released as a digital download on August 26, 2008 and physical release in September, 2008.
Ne-Yo shot the video for “Miss Independent” with director Chris Robinson on Monday, August 11, 2008 in Santa Monica, CA. The second single from Ne-Yo’s Year of the Gentleman album features appearances from independent women Keri Hilson, Lauren London, and Gabrielle Union. The video also features Trey Songz. The video premiered 21st August at 7:30 pm on Access Granted. As of September 14, 2008 the music video for “Miss Independent” has been viewed over 1,000,000 times on popular video-sharing YouTube.
