An American teenager(Michael Angarano) obsessed by the martial arts skill is teleported into the past to bring over the legendary stick of the monkey king (Jet Li). On the way he gets help from a drunken kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), a pretty kung fu lady Golden Sparrow (Crystal Liu Fei) out for vengeance and skillfull silent monk (Jet Li).
